I'm not a fan of D&D 4e for several reasons. Judging from the playtest for the next D&D edition, others aren't interested in the general design either. The GM rule of the day: stop rolling when there is no point.  As named by Robin Laws it is the Whiff Factor.  As a professional, he can write laws, I stick to rules.  In this case, rules the D&DNext team seems to like.  Most games have this rule in some form: take 10 in Pathfinder and later D&D, don't roll for mundane tasks in ShadowRun, or doing ( Read more... )

Dungeon and Dragons.  It's been a odd ride, creating the first RPG and making int a phenomenon. However we got here, we have to deal with it. That means the future.  That future is a new edition, and we can help.  I guess we just have to roll the dice and see.  Now the real question: what kind of game works for the future.
